Bellevue is a city in Sarpy County, Nebraska, United States. The population was 44,382 at the 2000 census and had increased to 47,347 by the 2004 estimate. Bellevue is part of the greater Omaha-Council Bluffs metropolitan area. It was incorporated in 1855 and is the oldest and third-largest city in Nebraska.

Bellevue is governed by a mayor and a ten person city council, with two representatives from each ward serving staggered four year terms. The current mayor of Bellevue is Ed Babbitt. He was a previous city council representative before his election to mayor in 2006. In addition to the city council and the mayor, a city administrator is apointed by the mayor and confirmed by the city council. The city administrator handles the day-to-day operation of the city. The Bellevue City Hall is at 210 West Mission Avenue, in Olde Towne Bellevue.

Bellevue Public Schools is home to 14 elementary, 2 middle, and 2 high schools. Bellevue's third middle school is planned to open in August 2007. BPS is governed by the superintendent, Dr. John Deegan, a 6 member elected board, and a military advisor due to Bellevue's large relationship with Offutt Air Force Base, located in Bellevue. The city of Bellevue also contains schools that belong to Papillion-La Vista Public Schools and Omaha Public Schools.
