Creighton Basketball
The Creighton Basketball team plays in the Qwest Center and is coached by Dana Altman. The team qualified for an NCAA post-season appearance in 2007 for the ninth consecutive time since 1998. Creighton has also won 10 Missouri Valley Conference Tournament championships, which is the most of any Missouri Valley team. Creighton averages almost 16,000 fans a game the the Qwest Center, which is in the top twenty in the entire country. Creighton Basketball has a very large following from the Omaha community because there are many Creighton alums who live in the area.
Last year Creighton finished second in the Conference, but won the conference tournament to receive an opportunity to play in the NCAA Tournament last spring. The Jays lost to Nevada in overtime. The game was played in New Orleans. Kyle Korver of the Utah Jazz is one of several former Creighton players who have made it to the NBA. Others include Rodney Buford, Kevin McKenna, and former NBA coach Paul Silas.
