Elkhorn

The town of Elkhorn lies on the western skirt of Omaha in Douglas County. In January 2007, Elkhorn was legally annexed by Omaha, according to the Nebraska Supreme Court, which caused dissension in the small town. A majority of Elkhorn's citizens do not wish to be considered a part of the expanding Omaha. Elkhorn's city council responded by taking the issue to the U.S. Supreme Court. However, the city's appeal was denied and Elkhorn officially was annexed by Omaha on March 1, 2007.
