[edit] History
In 1857, two pioneers, Herman and Augustus Kountze, founded First National Bank. Since then, innovation has led the way for First National Bank. They were the first national bank chartered west of the Missouri River. In 1953, they became one of the first banks to issue a credit card.
First National Bank has been through six generations of family leadership, and is now the largest family-owned holding company in the U.S. The bank began in Omaha, and it continues to keep its headquarters in downtown Omaha, close to its roots.
