The Fountain at Dusk

The Heartland of America Park is a 31 acre park located along the banks of the Missouri River that connects to the Gene Leahy Mall. The Heartland of America Park is a landscaped, lighted facility with a water fountain and various pathways. During the summer months, there is also a tour boat ride (costs only a quarter) that provides nice views of the skyline from the river.

The park features a large lake with a colorful fountain capable of shooting water 300 feet into the air. The fountain shoots water so high into the air that there have been instances in which it has had to be turned down because the water sprays all the way to Council Bluffs. During the warmer months, there are free Friday night concerts which start at 7pm.

In the winter, the Park has an annual ice sculpture exhibition. Big blocks of ice are brought to the park and artists work their magic and turn the blocks of ice into sculptures. The sculptures are then available for viewing to the public.

The park is located next to the ConAgra Foods headquarters at 8th and Douglas Street.
