Omaha Commons:Photo and Image Use Policy
Copyrighted photos and images should only be used if an original creation or unlicensed, public domain images are unavailable. In this case, the copyrighted image must be specific to the article/subject being described—not just merely significant to what it depicts (the image cannot just be related to or represent the subject—it must be a reproduction of the subject itself).
When posting copyrighted images, permission to post must be obtained from the work’s author and explanation for using a copyrighted photo must be explicitly explained in the accompanying description box when uploading the file.
- copyrighted works utilized under the “Fair Use” provision must also include a brief description and explanation of how use of the work constitutes “Fair Use.”
The Omaha Wiki reserves the right to edit or take down text and images that violate these stated policies.
