The Lauritzen Gardens, also known as the Omaha Botanical Gardens, are composed of over 100 acres of botanical gardens, an arboretum, and Kenefick Park. The Laurentzen Gardens are located at 100 Bancroft Street in Omaha and were first constructed in 1982. This construction included a spring flowering walk as well as three main gardens: the shade hosta garden, herb garden, and children's garden. A decade or so later, a rose garden was added.

The arboretum, another intriguing aspect of Lauritzen Gardens, is a type of garden that is limited or dedicated to just trees and other woody plants. This garden only amounts to 4 acres out of the entire 100 acres that the Botanical Gardens consists of; however, it includes a wide variety of trees such as prairie, savannah, oak hickory forest, maple linden forest, farmstead windbreak, marsh, and flood plain river margin.

Each Christmas the gardens host a poinsettia show consisting of many different varieties of poinsettia. The show also consists of a massive 700 count poinsettia Christmas tree. The event runs through the holiday season and is quite the sight!

They are open daily from 9am-5pm. Admission varies by season. The Garden's telephone number is (402)346-4002.
