Mayor of Omaha

This is a list of mayors of Omaha, Nebraska, USA. Being the mayor of Omaha has been compared to being the Governor of Alaska,^[1] and when former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani insulted United States presidential candidate Barack Obama, his behavior was likened to what is expected of the Omaha mayor.^[2]

"Cowboy" Jim Dahlman was elected to eight terms as mayor, serving the city for 20 years over a 23-year-period. Called the "perpetual Mayor" of Omaha, Dahlman was seen by many as a cover man for the city's vice elements. Earning the reputation as the "wettest mayor in America", Dahlman saw the number of saloons in Omaha double during his first 10 years as mayor. The term "Dahlmanism" was coined to describe his politics.^[3]
