Omaha Public Power District

Omaha Public Power District (OPPD) is the company that supplies electricity to Omaha. Their offices are located at 444 South 16th Street Mall in Omaha. Phone: (402)536-4131

Beginning in 1984, OPPD began to give the Harding Energy Award of Excellence for a local group efficiently using and conserving energy. The six criteria the group is rated on are:

• Load factor
• Total energy consumption
• Conservation practices
• Application of alternative energy sources
• Innovation of energy applications
• Environmentally-conscious business practices

Recent winners of the Award are Mutual of Omaha (2007 & 1990), Millard Public Schools (2006), Methodist Health System (2005), Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo (2003), Creighton University (2002), Westside Community Schools (2001), Offutt Air Force Base (2000), University of Nebraska Medical Center (1999), First National Bank of Omaha (1996), Nebraska Furniture Mart (1994), and First Data (1993).
