Pottawattamie County
Pottawattamie County is a county located in the western part of Iowa. As of 2000, the population was 87,704. The second largest county in Iowa, the Pottawattamie county seats are located at Council Bluffs and Avoca. It is one of three Iowa counties in the eight-county Omaha-Council Bluffs Metropolitan Statistical Area. The county takes its name from the Potawatomi Native American tribe.
