Wildlife Safari
From Omaha Commons
Experience a fun-filled drive through prairies and wetlands where you can spot deer, elk, wolves, herds of Bison, and many other animals from your car window. The park also features tram rides, an aviary, Sacred Hoop Garden, and a visitors center. Located off Interstate 80 west at exit 426 near Ashland, the safari is adjacent to Mahoney State Park and the Strategic Air and Space Museum.
There are many animals held at the Safari Park that are not currently on display because there is not enough room in the public access areas for these animals. Some of these animals are ostrichs, gazelles, billy goats, emus, kiwis, and llamas. These particlar animals are held in the education and enrichment areas which are not accessible to the public.
The Wildlife Safari Park has a facility which is not open to the public that raises nutria and ducks. Another area of the safari park that is not open to the public is the raptor barn where they house sick and disabled animals not suitable for public display. However, there is an animal hospital located on the grounds which helps to nurture the sick animals.
